Lock in a profit before the game even starts

Bookmakers don't always agree on a price. When two of them disagree by enough, you can back every outcome across both and come out ahead no matter who wins -- a guaranteed return, not a bet on the result.

How an arb works

Every arbitrage comes down to the same four steps, whichever sport or market it turns up in.

1
Compare prices

Every bookmaker prices the same match independently. Most of the time they're close, but they don't always agree.

2
Spot the gap

Take the best price for each outcome across different bookmakers. If those prices' implied probabilities add up to under 100%, that gap is an arbitrage.

3
Split the stake

Weight your stake toward the shorter price so the return is the same whichever side actually wins.

4
Place both legs quickly

Prices move. Get both bets down before either one shifts and closes the gap.

A worked example

An NRL head-to-head market, priced differently by two bookmakers, with $150 to use.

Bookmaker A has the home team at $2.30. Bookmaker B has the away team at $1.95. Their implied probabilities add up to 94.76% -- under 100%, which is the arb.

Home team @ Bookmaker A, odds $2.30$69.00
Away team @ Bookmaker B, odds $1.95$81.00
Total staked$150.00
If the home team wins: $69 × $2.30$158.70
If the away team wins: $81 × $1.95$157.95
Guaranteed profit, whichever side wins+$7.95 or more

Example odds only. Stakes are rounded to whole dollars, which looks more natural to a bookmaker's risk systems and costs a few cents at most. Once both bets are placed, the result can't lose -- the only thing to manage is speed, since prices can move before you get the second leg on.

Checking every bookmaker by hand isn't realistic

A gap like the one above can close in minutes. The Arbitrage Finder scans every major Australian bookmaker, across every sport and market, and works out the exact stake split for you.

Questions people ask

Yes. You're placing two normal, legal bets with two licensed bookmakers -- there's no rule against a bookmaker's price disagreeing with another's, and nothing about the bets themselves is different to any other wager.
